Basis of Charging
Fees are calculated case-by-case based on:
- Value of the dispute.
- Length of mediation & volume of material.
- Location (Travel factors).
- Number of parties.
The Basic Fee Includes:
Preparation
Reasonable preparation time (typically allowed 5 hours).
The Mediation Day
A full mediation day lasting up to 8 hours.
Please note: Half-day mediations are rarely charged at 50% of the daily rate, as the preparation required is often the same as a full day.
Potential Additional Charges:
For mediations within the UK, I try to avoid any charges for travel and expenses. This is partly reflects my strong preference to mediate in person and travel costs can make this less economic. Normally I will absorb my own travel time and travel costs. This means that I am competitive to undertake mediations anywhere within the UK.
Overtime
If the mediation continues past the scheduled 8 hours, extra hours are charged at a pre-agreed hourly rate.
Travel & Expenses
Travel costs and accommodation (if required) are charged at cost. I often travel the night before a mediation to ensure that I am fully refreshed for a mediation day.
Venue Costs
Room hire is the responsibility of the parties. I can assist if required but any charges incurred will be passed on to the parties. Other than this, I try to avoid charging expenses in addition to the mediation fee.
